Pledges on World Environment Day, under Woodland’s CSR initiative – ‘ProPlanet’
Woodland, the leading global adventure wear brand, took a pledge on World Environment Day to become the country’s first Carbon Neutral retail Chain by 2015. As part of its CSR Initiative ‘Proplanet’, Woodland has initiated this campaign ensuring negation of its Carbon Footprint emitted through its retail operations spread across the country. A pilot project is being initiated in Delhi NCR & Karnataka and will roll our nationally.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Harkirat Singh, Managing Director, Woodland said: “Woodland believes in the concept and is pleased to join in this global effort that galvanizes organizations and individuals around the world. We are very proud to have taken the initiative of becoming country’s first carbon neutral retail chain and I hope that environmental conscious customers will be thrilled with our new offerings.”
Under the campaign, a comprehensive Carbon accounting is being done for each store to calculate the carbon footprint of each store as well as the retail operations and thus, establishing a baseline while devising methods to negating them in due course. Woodland believes in the importance of eco-consciousness and has embraced it as one of its key objectives always. The Company has plans to significantly negate its environmental impact by 2015 and become a carbon neutral brand.
Apart from reducing the retail carbon footprint, the consumers are encouraged to use green products across all categories and brand provides incentives for every carbon credit received. Woodland is also working on new Product green content label for sharing information of environmental impact of each product & design. Woodland is one of the fewer aggressive brands who continuously works towards contributing to environment under its CSR Initiative under brand umbrella –Proplanet.
