IT Association Of AP Urges Govt To Cut Power Tariff: Report

The IT Association of Andhra Pradesh (ITAAP) reportedly urged the State government to reduce power tariff for IT units from the present ₹10 per unit to ₹5 per unit to attract more investment into the sector.

The plea was made by the new president of the association, RL Narayana, according to a report by Business Line, where he was quoted, saying that IT infrastructure should be strengthened in the State and bandwidth cost should also be reduced.

As per the report, the association is working in tandem with the AP government in developing Visakhapatnam as a major IT hub and also to take IT to other towns and cities in the State including the new capital, Amaravati.

Advisory council chairman of the association, O Naresh Kumar, told the site that the Center should reduce GST from the present 18 per cent to 5 per cent to promote the domestic IT industry and the income tax (deducted at source) should be cut from 10 per cent to 2-3 per cent.
