Airtel Rolls Out 4G Service In North Bengal

Telecom service provider Bharti Airtel today launched its 4G services in Siliguri, making it the first town in North Bengal to have 4G mobile services.

Airtel 4G in Siliguri has been rolled out using spectrum band of 2300 MHz which ensures higher spectrum efficiency and increased upload and download speeds, which translates into a superior customer experience.

Ravindra Singh Negi, CEO,West Bengal and Odisha, Bharti Airtel Limited said in a press statement that, “our 4G services in Siliguri, is a milestone for Airtel with Siliguri becoming the first town in North Bengal to experience Airtel 4G. We also have plans to cover all major locations in the North Bengal and Sikkim shortly. Customers in Siliguri can now look forward to a superlative smartphone experience with Airtel 4G. We invite all data savvy customers to upgrade to Airtel 4G and be a part of India’s widest 4G network.”

Airtel has led the 4G story in India, having launched India’s first 4G network in Kolkata in April 2012 and now are also present in Kharagpur, Baharampur and Haldia in West Bengal.

In November 2015, Airtel commenced the implementation of its network transformation program – Project Leap. With a national investment of INR 60,000 Crores over the next three years, Airtel’s “Project Leap” is a strategic company initiative aimed at perceptibly improving its network quality and delivering the best customer experience.
