Cyber Attacks Could Cost Retailers One-Fifth Of Their Shoppers: Study

Consumers are wary of the increased frequency of cyber-attacks against retailers, and many are ready to walk away from their favorite retailers if a breach occurs. In fact, according to the 2016 KPMG Consumer Loss Barometer, in surveying 448 consumers, KPMG found that 19 per cent said they would stop shopping at a retailer that had been a victim of a cybersecurity hack, even if the company took the necessary steps to remediate the issue. In addition to those who would abandon the retailer entirely, 33 per cent of the consumers...

Researchers Find Vulnerability In 3D Printing

A latest study by Indian-origin researchers have found vulnerabilities in 3D printers by examining two aspects — printing orientation and insertion of fine defects. The researchers found that since Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) files used in the creation, modification, analysis, or optimization of a design do not give instructions for printer head orientation, malefactors could alter the process without detection. Also, sub-millimetre defects that can appear between printed layers with exposure to fatigue and the elements were found to be undetectable by common industrial monitoring techniques, the researchers said. The finding, along with...
